Dan & Donna Miller

Through this web site, I wish to share with you my talent in art. My wife Donna and I were married in 1977 and have a combined family of five children, six grandchildren and one great grandchild and live in "Colorful Colorado". I am retired from a 34 year career in machining and am looking forward to pursuing many other interests. Donna keeps our home a beautiful and welcome place to live while enjoying her garden and always keeping up on her reading and writing poetry.
I have been painting in oils and acrylics for only about 12 years. I haven't had any formal instruction or study and consider myself to be "self-taught". As yet I have not stayed with any particular painting style but I enjoy painting landscapes, animals, birds, and florals. I tend to paint with a realistic touch, as I am very impressed by those who can paint something to the point of looking absolutely true to life or realistic, and to me that takes an extremely talented person.
Donna and I are members of our local Christian church and profess to live our lives to the best that we can in honor of our Lord Jesus Christ. Donna and I are deacons and I sing in the choir and I am the web master for the church's website. Central Christian Church
I started persuing an interest in wood turning in 2003 and joined a local organization of the AAW (American Association of Woodturners). I had always worked with wood as this was passed down to me through my father and grandfather who were carpenters and cabinet makers. I inherited my grandfathers old lathe, which I reconditioned and made use of frequently but eventually moved up to a larger Jet VS1642 lathe. I enjoyed making various items such as bowls, vases, goblets, platters, hollow forms, boxes and many other small craft items like bottle stoppers, miniature bird houses and pens. After a few years, my doctor insisted I quit this hobby and get off my feet as I had developed Diabetes and the work was very hard on mt legs and feet. Therefore, I have sold all my woodturning tools and am using the shop as an art studio.

I am adding a new memorial page to this site that has been a long time coming as I present to you two very unique daughters of mine. It is with tribute that I share a little about my daughters born with Cystic Fibrosis, Diane Christine and Suzanne Dureen. Diane passed away at the age of 29 on September 12, 2001 and Suzanne just passed away at the age of 41 this last November 2, 2009. My oldest daughter, Kearin, lives in Houston, Texas and has two handsome sons, Caleb and Joshua. Caleb has a beautiful wife, Dawny and a daughter, Aurora (my great granddaughter).

We hope that everyone who browses through the site will find something to their liking. The children can find a corner to print out delightfully fun colorbook images and puzzles. The art critics may find a place to peruse a gallery and hopefully will give me feedback of encouragement or instruction.
